NORTH SHIELDS

JUNIORS AFC

About the Club

Since its formation in 1996 with three junior soccer teams, North Shields Juniors AFC has enjoyed continued success and rapid development, until in the current season of 2023/2024, we now have 61 teams in the age range of 7 to 18 years plus senior men’s and reserve team. There are now over 700 playing members proudly wearing the North Shields Juniors Strip. From the inception of the Club with junior soccer, mini soccer was added in 2001, followed a few years later with the introduction of a soccer skills format on Saturday mornings, which regularly attracts up to 150 participants a week.

The Girls section was introduced in 2002 and has itself enjoyed exceptional success to achieve the current 13 teams, we are looking at further growth of our Girls section – again giving everyone the opportunity to progress from U19’s throughout the age groups. We are planning to re-launch our Senior Ladies Team in the near future.

In 2007 the club was awarded the prestigious “Charter Standard Community Club” status – the highest accolade currently available.

As a sign of NSJAFC’s commitment to all youngsters of the “community”, the club has a statement that everyone should have the chance to participate and develop irrespective of ability. As recognition of the success of this commitment in action, the club were granted recognition as being a “Deaf Friendly Club” – the first in the area to achieve this award.

From the club’s Trustees through the Management Committee to qualified Managers and Coaches, the Club is run on a purely voluntary basis with the pure intention to provide grass roots soccer in a structured, safe and fun setting for all those who wish to partake.

In addition, NSJAFC have forged links with Clubs in France, Holland, Spain and the USA, and will continue to develop these and other overseas links as time goes on.

In 2023 the club was awarded FA Accredited 3 Star award, the highest level for any football club.

To the future, the Club never stands still, and continue their efforts to establish our own ground and base, and we look forward to all our current and future members joining us on our journey towards new developments and successes.
