Inter were on their travels for the second week in a row knowing they were to face stiff opposition from a team who were in similar form as themselves.

On the back of 2 fantastic wins Inter domineered right from the word go and some great passing from Marcus seen Colin drill a well struck shot beating the Blyth keeper earning Inter the right to be in front.
Mikey and Rhys gave nothing away at the back and Ryan V playing a blinder in midfield making sure that Inter were going to be hard to overcome.
Just before the end of the first quater a great goal Kick from Sam found Marcus who struck well at goal which was well saved by the Blyth Keeper who was beaten by a follow up shot from Ryan M adding to Inters deserved lead.

Richard Allen took to the field for the second quater and showed some dazzeling ball skills and pace and tore through the Blyth defence only to be fouled 18 yards from goal winning a free kick in a very dangerous area.
Up stepped Ryan M who struck a venemous left foot shot which rattled the left hasnd upright but Marcus followed up in true Michael Owen fashion and cooly slotted home giving Inter a 3-0 lead.
From the kick off Inter turned defence in to attack which seen Cameron briliantly beat 3 players and rounnded the keeper in style to put Inter 4-0 up.

Blyth swapped keepers for the last quater and tried to break down the inter defence but Mikey, Rhys and Ryan V were having nothing of this and tackled and battled for everything that was thrown their way.
Inters goal was in the safe hands of Sam who kicked very well and although was quiet kept Blyth at bay when called upon.

A class performance Inter are going from strength to strength well done lads.

Man of the Match - Marcus McConkey

14/10/07 Northburn Wanderers 0 North Shields Inter 6
Goals: Marcus McConkey 1, Richard Allen 1, Colin Liddle 1, Ryan Maughan 3

A late kick off of 1.00 o'clock meant that Inter turned up for this encounter full of ready break, hair well groomed and shooting boots on the right feet.

The first quater began with Inter dominating and some great movement from Ryan V saw a great threaded ball to Marcus who took well to score Inters opener.
Rhys and Michael made some great tackles at the back making sure that Cameron was a spectator in the first quater.

The second quater resumed and Inter began to use their strength and experience pay when a great ball from Richard from the right which found Colin who slotted home briliantly to produce Inter's second.
With Some great tackles from Sam at the back Inter were giving nothing away and continued to make their hold on the game pay.

Inter who were now steaming ahead in the third quater passed the ball fluently and Mikey and Rhys seen off any slight threat that Norhburn could throw at a confident Inter team.

In the last quater a quickly taken corner from Marcus was struck with venham by Richard which looped over the Northburn keeper and in to the top corner giving the keeper no chance.
Inter now cruising at 3-0 were not going to let up and within seconds of the restart a great pass from Ryan V seen Ryan M round the keeper with ease and slot home to give Inter their 4-0 lead.
Seconds later a great pass fro Sam to Colin and Colin to Ryam M seen Ryan M atdd to his goal tally and create his second goal of the game.

The final quater was coming to a close when Ryan M rounded 3 players and the keeper to score a wonder goal and his hat-rick which brought a great game to an end.
All Inter players played very well and the passing throghout this game was outstanding.

Man of The Match Ryan Vaughan - some solid tackling and great passing moves.

07/10/07 North Shields Inter 3 Berwick Rangers 1
Goals:Ryan Vaughan 1, Colin Liddle 1, Cameron Sturrock 1.

A strong looking Berwick Barbarians side came forth from the North with the intention of breaking through the wall at North Shields and taking the spoils back to the Northumbrian hills.

With a 10 game unbeaten run they were looking for modern day version of sacking and pillaging to kill off the Geordie hordes.

Well come on down and meet the Geordie Romans who man this part of the wall.

Cameron “Caligula” Sturrock

Rhys “Agrippa” Green

Sam “Bacus” Barrington

Michael “Tiberius” Chambers

Richard “Maximus” Allen

Ryan “Romulus” Vaughan

Ryan “Remus” Maughan

Colin “Constantine” Liddle

Marcus “Aurelias” McConkey

General Howie “NiceiusManius” Howie told his men “Upon my signal unleash… great football containing skills, passing, tackles, stamina, positional sense and above all else GOALS!!!!”

Assisted in all things good by his right hand man John “AquiusBoyus” Sturrock Hee Hee Only kidding John (ed)

The game started at a terrific pace with the tricky Berwick number 9 causing a lot of problems running the channels and every other blade of grass. It soon turned out to be an omen of impending doom as he set up his big number 6 team mate who struck a well hit goal much to the dismay of the watching baying members of society. Now this could have seen Inter let their heads go down but with a few choice words from the sides by Howie and John the lads remained intent on stopping any more goals against them. This belief meant that not only did the colossus defensive pairings of Rhys, Micky and Cameron contain the attacks with some crunching tackles but it also meant the team had great foundations to build on (much like roman engineering) and build they did. The midfield players such as Colin and Ryan V got stuck well in and were able to send the wing wizards Ryan M and Richard along with Marcus “feet of fury” McConkey on their way to some great attacking options. Marcus hit the post and then the side netting then Ryan M or was it Richard who was brought down during a speedy attack in the box… OOO went the crowd. “Give me the ball” went Ryan V – Banged into the back of the net with some aplomb 1 -1.

The second quarter saw Inter take the challenge to Berwick and the words of their great leader oops sorry I mean Howie rang true… “we will beat this team by passing” And Pass They Did!!

Solid handling from Sam gave all around confidence. Tackles flew in from Rhys, Micky and Ryan V and Colin then the best move of the game saw Marcus collect the ball from deep in his own half turn, run and pass down the line to Cameron who in one quick controlled movement fed the ball through to Colin who took it past 2 players and slotted it past the keeper into the net with the helpful touch of a back tracking Berwick player who upon seeing the result collapsed into uncontrollable sobs as if he was to blame for how good we were!! 2 – 1 The last 2 quarters saw Inter play fantastic team football showing everything that they have been taught under the tutelage of Howie and John. And my didn’t it look good. Richard cracked one past the right hand upright closely followed by shots from Ryan M and Colin. Not to be outdone Marcus and Cameron combined in a very neat move which saw Marcus collect a pass from Colin then turn and crack a right footed scorcher against the bar only to see it bounce down on the line and look like being cleared by the under attack Berwick back 4 until serial goal scorer Cameron steamed in to knock it over the line.
That lad should be a short order grill cook he is that good at poaching!!! 3 – 1

Final score 3 – 1 to Inter and a long journey home over the border for Berwick. Rome was not built in a day and neither was this team but those who have seen it build steadily over the last 2 years are now starting to enjoy the great rewards of a job well done.

Man of the Match Ryan Vaughan.

30/09/07 Cramlington Flamenco 4 North Shields Inter 0

Inter returned to the ground with the previous years result of an 18 - 0 thrashing fresh in their minds but with 2 new signings in the summer of Ryan Vaughan and Ryan Maughan Inter knew they were more than capable of turning the clock and producing a massive improvement on the previous years result.
Straight from the off Inter were under bombardment down the right hand side only to be met by a tremendous tackle from Ryan V.
With Michael and Rhys playing their hearts out at the back Inter deservidly ended the first quater on level pegging 0-0.

The tables began to change slightly in the second quater as classy Ryan M released a tremendous through ball to Marcus who controlled well but fired just wide of the left hand upright.Inter were unlucky not to be 1-0 up.Cramlington seemed to go from strength to strength in the second quater and shots at goal were well saved by Cameron Sturrock who saved well on three occasions to the frustration of a formidible Cramlington front 3.
Just before the interval Cramlington found a burst of energy down the left hand wing an a well crossed ball found the right boot of a Cramlington player giving the Inter keeper who was on tremendous form no chance Inter found themselves 0-1 down.

Inter came out fighting in the third quater with Sam Barrington having a blinder at Right back and Colin dominating a deep midfield roll Inter managed to keep the scoreline at bay until two minuites from the end when Cramlington upped the pressure and scored 2 quick consecutive goals which were no fault of the Inter players who were all giving a gutsy performance.Richard quick foot Allen who was world class gave his all on the Right but a sound Cramlington defence were going to give nothin away.

Inter resumed the last quater in true fighting spirit and Marcus Richard and Colin who gave 100% could not find a way through a very tight Cramlington back 2.
Right at the death Cramlington found a way through with a well taken goal which again Cameron had no chance of stopping.

All Inter players can be proud of themseves with their contribution and comitment and their manager is very proud of the way they held their heads high and every player gave 100%.
Bearing in mind last seasons result against the same team it is great to see how much Inter have matured and progressed in the footballing world.
A credit to themselves parents and their manager.

Man of the Match Cameron Sturrock - He played a blinder with some great saves keeping the scorline down.

Well where do we start…
After a great pre season and a long summer holiday period the inter lads were talking up the season as a one of great potential and this looked on paper as a good game to start the season off with.

Having already been beaten 5 – 2 by another North Shields U9 squad the Inter lads must have thought they only had to turn up to win the game.

Maybe some had been out the night before or maybe it was because it was the first competitive game of the season, but whatever it was the performance was not up to what was expected.

The wind was howling and this may have had some effect on leveling out the two teams but with the wind behind them in the first quarter Inter were expected to kick on. However it was Whitley Bay who drew first blood with their strong number 9 running rings around the inter defense 0 - 1. The goal was still not enough to stir the inter lads and things were looking bleak until a great opportunist strike from the half way line from Richard to get the game level. He sent the ball high into the air and with the wind behind it the keeper was unable to hold onto it 1 -1.

The 2nd quarter saw Whitley Bay use the wind advantage to good effect and within 2 mins they had gone into the lead once again when again all around the Inter team lethargy was the buzz word. Some strong runs down the wings by Marcus, Ryan and Richard came to no avail as we could not seem to get men onto the end of the ball in the final 3rd of the pitch or in and around the box. Big Sam was having a commanding performance in goal but the wind was hampering him and the inter defense and it was soon 1 – 3 to Whitley Bay as once again Inter failed to deal with 2 quick counter attacks and the strong Whitley Bay number 9

Howie and John got stuck into them at the next interval and it certainly showed in their performance. From the off in the 3rd quarter he Inter lads poured forward and from the back, through the midfield and up front the lads seemed to find the energy so badly lacking in the first 2 quarters. Strong tackling and good clearances from the back pairing of Micky and Rhys saw the Inter attacks played from defense into Ryan, Richard and Marcus on the wings and Cameron and Colin on the front line attack. It was a strong run from Marcus that saw him tear down the right hand wing and cross for Cameron who timed his run to perfection and stroked the ball into the back of the net for a lovely worked goal. 2 – 3. Next it was wing wizard Ryan to take the ball down the left and send a cross over that hit the post and then fell to Colin who shot just wide with a quickly taken turn and strike execution. Inter had the bit between their teeth now and another well worked move saw the Inter defense of Micky and Rhys break down another dangerous attack and then send Richard on his way who passed through to Colin onto Marcus who saw his shot sail agonizingly over the bar. Cameron and Richard bossed midfield with some great tackles, while wing men Marcus and Ryan kept the supply coming. The next goal always looked like coming and once Micky had blocked another attack he passed to Rhys who laid a lovely ball through to Colin who steadied himself and then unleashed an unstoppable drive into the top right hand corner. 3 – 3 and Inter were back in it until disaster struck just before the whistle when a strong Whitley Bay attack saw the now infamous Number 9 weave a magical spell over 4 of the inter lads and stroke home his 4th of the day. 3 – 4

Inter could have easily went down crest fallen to a heart breaking strike against the run of play but they came out with renewed vigour for the last quarter and gave Whitley Bay a lesson in how to play great football. Every man on the field of play gave 100% and even though they were against the wind which was now near gale force they ran their hearts out and gave a fantastic 12.5 minute display of attacking football and safe hands in goal. The passing and possession was a demonstration of what they have been learning all summer and they must have put together 12 to 15 great attacks leading to chances on goal only to find the keeper, the uprights or the wind beating them. It just was not going to be their day
The match played out to a final score of 3 – 4 but the inter lads can be sure that they gave a good account of themselves…. Eventually!!! You can’t give teams 2 quarters head start and expect to win!!!
The lesson of the day is “if you don’t bother to turn up and turn on you will never ever win a game

Man of The Match: Marcus McConkey
