MATCH REPORTS
Sunday 22 January 2012 – NSJ Eagles 4 – 3 Ellington Juniors
A slow start on a cold and windy day against a strong team. The Eagles play improved and they deservedly took the lead through a Michael Barnes goal, only for them to go 3 -1 down as Ellington scored in fairly quick succession. The players rallied and produced another united team performance that resulted in two great goals from Adam Smallwood. A fluky deflection saw Jared Robson claim a goal. Congratulations to Jared Robson who received Player of the Game from both Ellington and his coaches, but a well done to all the team.
Sunday 8 January 2012
NSJ Eagles 1 – 3 Berwick Rangers
A change in playing personnel saw the Eagles unlucky to lose to a well organised, strong Berwick team. Berwick took the lead with the Eagles equalising through some good team play that resulted in a Dean Herbertson goal. With 5 minutes to go it looked as if a draw was on the cards, but unfortunately it was not to be with Berwick capitalising on their chances to score 2 more goals. A fantastic team effort with every player involved from start to finish, with some excellent defending from Joe Howells and debutant Tom Griffin. Well done to Player of the Game Michael Barnes who seemed to have a new lease of life (or was it the new boots?).
Sunday 25 September - North Shields Eagles 3 - 0 Ashington Colliers
The team bounced back from their defeat the week before. Evenly matched first quarter with both teams creating chances and testing the keepers. Another good performance from Shaun in goal and strong performances from Adam, Dean and Michael going forward. The deadlock was broken late in the second quarter with a great goal by Ollie. Good defensive work by another new player to the team, Dominik and Jared saw the quarter end with Eagles in the ascendency. The third quarter saw Excellent performances this quarter from back to front as the Eagles pushed on with Ollie delivering a Messi like run to score his second goal of the game. Managerial changes during the fourth quarter resulted in Michael playing full back which allowed Dominik to go forward, show some great potential and score the third goal of the game.
Well done team. Congratulations to Ollie who received Player of the Game from Ashington with Dominik receiving the award from his managers.
18/09/11 - League- Whitley Bay Sproggs B.12 - 0 North Shields Eagles
A game that was never going to be easy against such accomplished opposition, with the Sproggs stepping up a gear in the latter part of the game to score the majority of their goals. Very proud of all players who stuck to their roles and played as they were asked to. Congratulations to Shaun O'Reillty who received player of the game from the Sproggs with the whole team receiving it from their manager.
11/09/11 - League – North Shields Eagles 0 – 9 Wallsend BC Madrid
At the risk of sounding like a broken record this result is not a true reflection of the game. Both teams started well, with the first quarter evenly balanced at 0 -0. The second quarter saw the Eagles concede two goals but still in with a chance of getting something from the game. A bright start to the third quarter with a few goal scoring chances, unfortunately Wallsend added to their goal tally, with the fourth quarter best forgotten about. Excellent work from the defensive duo of Jared Robson and Finlay Anderson, with some good goal keeping from Shaun O’Reilly who did not deserve to see so many go past him. An impressive performance from another new player Michael Barnes as he continues to develop. Well done to Shaun O’Reilly who received player of the game from Wallsend with Jared Robson receiving the award from his manager.
Sunday 4 September2011 – U9 North Shields Eagles 11 - 2 Morpeth Scorpions
With the departure of several players from last season (mainly due to age) a new look Eagles took to the pitch for their first game of this season. A good performance with some well taken goals and solid goalkeeping from new keeper Shaun O’Reilly.
Goal scorers – Dean Herbertson (4), Ollie Chaplin (2), Jaden Bell (3) and Adam Smallwood (2)
Player of the game from Morpeth – Adam Smallwood
Player of the game from coaches – Dean Herbertson for scoring 4 well taken goals on his debut
