Reports
27/04/08 - North Leopards v North Shields Cougars
k.o. 1.00pm
Last game of the season and with news of results filtering through from
earlier kickoffs the Leopards knew only a win would do to secure third
place in the division. The derby game was set up to be a cracker.
Line up for the Leopards Tyler Walton in goal, Evan Ward and Thomas
Patterson in defence Alan Grey, Oliver Baldwin and James Brown in midfield
with Marcus Joyce the lone striker, 1st period subs Sam Garfoot, Nathan
Pattison and Robert Mcmenzie.
1st period, the game very tight the Leopards knew they couldn’t
afford to concede an early goal the tackles were hard but fair. The
Cougars kept pressing and towards the end of the quarter hit the post
but it remained 0-0 at the break.
2nd period saw a change of tactics with team captain Alan going up front
and Nathan now on to add extra bite in defence, even though Tyler had
to make a couple of fine saves the Leopards started to become the more
dangerous attacking side. A throw in from Oliver into the box midway
through the quarter wasn’t cleared by the Cougars defence and
bounced kindly to Alan who doesn’t waste an opportunity to shoot
and made no mistake 1-0. confidence was high now and the Leopards continued
to attack, a long clearance saw Alan running down the left wing a bad
touch saw the ball get away from him it must have been millimeters away
from going out for a goal kick when he wrapped his left foot round it
and sent it into the box unbelievably the ball went into the net by
the far post an impossible angle to score from and had the crowd amazed
2-0.
3rd period the Cougars came out strongly and kept the attacking leopards
at bay. A battling period of play from both sides it remained 2-0 to
the leopards.
4th period the Leopards started brightly again and after an exchange
of passes down the right hand wing between Alan and James Alan tried
his luck from another tight angle the keeper got a touch but couldn’t
keep it out 3-0 and a hattrick for Alan, the Cougars came straight back
and got the ball in the net surely this was just a consolation goal
but no, they got another 3-2 this was nervy stuff some fine tackling
from Thomas and Nathan and a great save from Tyler kept the Leopards
ahead when the referee blew the full time whistle the sense of relief
was there for all to see. What a game and what a result to get third
place.
Well done to all the team for a great match and a memorable season,
thanks to coach Martin Mcmenzie and to all parents and supporters.
This weeks most improved player Thomas Patterson some match saving tackles,
always willing to go in where it hurts.

13/4/08 - North Shields Leopards v Whitley
Bay Jun Sporting
k.o. 12.00
The Leopards had already beat Whitley Bay 3-0 this season and needed
another good result to keep the pressure on the other teams trying to
finish in the top three, the game kicked off with Tyler Walton in goal
Evan Ward and Thomas Patterson in defence Alan Grey, Oliver Baldwin
and Nathan Pattison in midfield and Marcus Joyce up front some strong
tackling from the start set the game up for a rough affair and the only
chances were free headers from corners for both teams neither hitting
target.
2nd period Sam Garfoot now on for Marcus with the tackles still flying
in no clear chances were being created until Alan had his legs taken
from underneath him on the edge of the box but sent his free kick just
over the bar. Straight from the goal kick the referee whistle in mouth
ready to blow let Whitley finish their attack which they scored no time
for restart. 0-1.
3rd period and the Leopards came out fighting not letting Whitley settle
on the ball, after a series of corners Sam managed to get the ball over
the line for the equalizer once again Whitley attacked and after a fine
save from Tyler a Whitley player fell over his outstretched arm and
the ref awarded a penalty from which they scored from to go into the
final quarter 2-1 up.
4th period and now Alan up front the Leopards were going all out for
the equalizer it was end to end stuff. With time running out Tyler kicked
the ball up field Alan read the bounce better than the defenders and
blasted it into the net 2-2. With only seconds left on the clock Whitley
tried a long range effort which Tyler held comfortably and booted as
far as he could once again Alan was onto it and made no mistake with
an exact copy of his first strike for the winner.
Well done to all the team for coming from behind twice to win the game.
Most improved player Nathan Pattison non stop running and tackling never
let the other team settle.

k.o 12.00
Awful conditions of sleet and snow for this game against a side the
leopards beat two nil earlier in the season. The game kicked off with
Tyler Walton in goal, Evan Ward and Thomas Patterson in defence Oliver
Baldwin, James Brown and Sam Garfoot in midfield and with Alan Grey
up front, despite the conditions the team started well without creating
any clear chances and were very unlucky to find themselves 1 down going
into the break.
2nd period both teams going forward at pace at every opportunity it
was end to end stuff, then midway through the quarter the ball was cleared
from the leopards penalty area up to Alan on the halfway line a little
flick and he turned his marker and sprinted towards goal he takes on
the last defender a little shimmy and he leaves him standing with his
left foot fires one in from the edge of the box the keeper didn’t
stand a chance, goal of the season. Cramlington came straight back and
regained the lead rather luckily with the referee missing a clear handball
before they put it in the net.
3rd period the Leopards starting to dominate play now as they went in
search of the equaliser it was one way traffic and when the ball broke
out to Oliver after yet another attack he made no mistake hitting the
back of the net from outside of the box. The Leopards didn’t let
the pace drop, with Alan twice going through the defenders like a battering
ram only for him to send 1 shot past the post and the keeper to save
another it was only a matter of time before we took the lead, after
a goal mouth scramble where James and Nathan had shots blocked Alan
managed to squeeze the ball in from a tight angle 3-2.
4th period the Leopards had chances to extend the lead but the Cramlington
keeper managed to keep them in the game and as the game went on a bit
of panic set in and only some excellent tackling from Nathan Pattison
and James saved the day a very good performance by all the team in wintry
conditions.
This weeks most improved player James Brown vital tackles towards the

k.o. 12.00
Down to the minimum of 7 players for this tough game against top of
the table Ashington.
Tyler Walton in goal Nathan Pattison and Thomas Patterson in defence,
Alan Grey, James Brown and Sam Garfoot in midfield with Marcus Joyce
up front.
1st period started with the Leopards pressing forward with some excellent
passing and movement that has been lacking in recent games although
the Leopards were on top they couldn’t get the opening goal and
it remained 0-0 at the break.
2nd period and both teams were playing well creating some half chances
at both ends, this was turning into a great game but the stalemate wasn’t
broken at half time.
3rd period the Leopards changing goalkeeper with James Brown now in
goal and Tyler in midfield, straight from the kick off Alan tried his
luck with a shot from inside his own half that just went over the bar.
With the Leopards going all out for a goal Ashington caught us on the
break and we went 1 down.
Final period the team must have been getting tired now with no subs,
but it didn’t show the teams passing game was probably the best
its been all season but sadly they couldn’t find the net, an excellent
game finished 1 nil to Ashington.

k.o. 12.00
A fter last weeks defeat to Guidepost a much better performance was
needed just to show them they caught us on a off day.
1st period and the Leopards were showing at lot more determination it
was end to end but both defences in control Thomas Patterson end Evan
Ward being excellent at the back for the Leopards and it was 0-0 at
the break.
2nd period was much the same but one lapse in concentration was all
it took for Guidepost to take the lead.
3rd period and the Leopards started dominating Oliver Baldwin making
tackles all over the pitch, the amount of corners Guidepost were conceding
showed were the game was being played and Alan Greys in swinging corners
were causing real problems for the keeper. Then the break through Alan
running onto a loose ball fired in a long range shot which the goalkeeper
got a touch too but was unable to keep it from going over the line 1-1.
4th period both teams playing well it was end to end stuff, neither
team was able to take their chances and it finished ones each in a very
good game.
Well done Leopards a much improved performance keep it up.

Yet another wind affected game in Gosforth 1st period started with Guidepost
having the advantage of the wind and the Leopards being half asleep
which resulted in goal for Guidepost early on, the Leopards got there
game going but nothing else was created by either side.
Second period was totally dominated by the Leopards but the final ball
was not finding its target, never the less the Leopards finally equalized
with a trademark free kick from Alan Grey.
Third period kicked off with the Leopards once again caught napping
and Guidepost regained the lead almost from the kick off. This stirred
the Leopards and they were having all the play but just couldn’t
create an opening.
Fourth period kicked off with the team knowing they had to step up a
gear and they didn’t disappoint the effort was there but the luck
wasn’t, another free kick from Alan which the keeper just managed
to save and Oliver Baldwin shooting just over the bar, before Alan managed
to crack a long range effort in for the equalizer. With time running
out we would of settled for a draw but the referee awarded a free kick
for Guidepost from which they luckily got the winner.
Most improved player this week Oliver Baldwin excellent in defence.

k.o 12.00
Another windy day in Gosforth for this North Shields derby.
1st period was end to end but no chances produced by
either side the Cougars possibly having most of the play with the wind
behind them but once again Evan Ward a rock in defence.
2nd period and with the Leopards pressing forward the
Leopards got a throw in Nathan Pattison finding Alan Grey who shot on
the turn forcing a fine save from the keeper but Evan running into the
box smashed it in to make it 1 nil.
3rd period and for some unexplained reason the Leopards
totally switched off resulting in them conceding 3 soft goals to go
into the final quarter 3-1 down.
4th period the Leopards had Alan in goal and Tyler
Walton now playing up front began to dominate Tyler pulling a goal back
but too little to late.

k.o. 12.00
W e all knew it was going to be a hard game against a Cramlington team
one place above the Leopards in the league but with the return from
injury of our goalkeeper and two wins in a row hopes were high. The
game kicked off with Tyler Walton back in goal Evan Ward and Thomas
Patterson in defence, Oliver Baldwin Alan Grey and James Brown in midfield
and Nathan Pattison up front.
The whole of the first period was battled out in the middle of the pitch
the Leopards passing the ball well once again but neither team creating
any chance and it finished 0-0.
2nd period was like watching a replay of the first some nice passing
but no chances being created both defences were excellent and the tracking
back and winning the ball by Oliver must have a mention.
3rd period and some changes being made with Robert Mckenzie, Lee Attril
and Marcus Joyce now on.
The game was still very tight until a Cramlington defender picked the
ball up on the halfway line and seemed to beat the whole Leopards team
before scoring. Unbelievable!
Despite some silky skills from Alan down the left wing who sent in a
looping cross which Marcus caught sweetly on the volley which was only
inches wide the Leopards were unable to equalize.
Final quarter saw a return to the stalemate in midfield and unfortunately
a defeat for the Leopards.

k.o 12.00
It made a change to have a game in nice sunshine and with a full squad
to pick from stand in coach Paddy wasted no time in motivating the team
for a match against a team that beat us 3-2 just a month ago.
He opted for a starting line up of Marcus Joyce in goal Oliver Baldwin
and Evan Ward at the back, Nathan Pattison, Thomas Patterson and Sam
Garfoot in midfield and captain Alan Grey up front.
The game started as expected a very tight game with no clear chances
being created by either side. The defensive partnership of Oliver and
Evan coping easily with the Whitley attack and it was this partnership
that was responsible for the opening goal, a long throw from Oliver
bounced into the box and was dispatched into the bottom corner by Evan
1nil.
The 2nd period was very much like the first and once again it was from
a throw in that opened up the w/bay defence with Nathan heading the
throw onto Alan who give a little shimmy to get it onto his left foot
and he made no mistake in making it 2nil.
3rd period Sam Oliver, Nathan and Alan being rested Lee Attrill on up
front and Sam in goal apart from a couple of surging runs from Lee it
was all w/bay who peppered the leopards goal hitting the post and bar
they also had the ball in the net but was disallowed by the referee
who judged it to have been kicked out of the keepers hands. For once
luck was with the leopards and they survived the onslaught to take their
lead into the final period.
With James Brown and Robert Mckenzie on with the now rested big three
of Oliver Nathan and Alan the supporters sensed it was our game and
it didn’t take long for Nathan to make it certain by lobbing the
keeper from outside of the box another excellent performance by the
whole team.

With still no regular goalkeeper it was still up to volunteers to take
turns and for the first quarter it was Marcus Joyce between the posts
in defence Evan Ward and Thomas Patterson a midfield of Oliver Baldwin,
Nathan Pattison and Sam Garfoot and Alan Grey up front. Right from the
kick off the Leopards dominated play in midfield but with all there
possession they were restricted to long range efforts that they couldn’t
convert into goals. 2nd period and now Oliver having a go in goal and
James Brown now on the Leopards were tremendous passing the ball around
the park, there was only one team in it!
When they were awarded the fourth corner in as many minutes Alan curled
it into the box perfect for Sam to volley it in to the back of the net
for his 1st goal of the season. From the restart James won the ball
passed to Alan who was brought down on the edge of the box up he got
ready to take one of his specials and he didn’t dissapoint 3 steps
and whack off the crossbar and in 2 nil. 3rd period Alan now in goal
and he only touched the ball once that’s how good the Leopards
were but like the 1st period unable take their chances, last quarter
James now in goal and like the rest of the match the Leopards controlled
everything but couldn’t score.

it wont be long before some team is going to be in for a right hiding

The Leopards started well kicking into gale force wind,
but against the run of play they found themselves 1 nil down this only
made the team more determined and it wasn’t long before Marcus
Joyce finished a nice move started at the back with Lee Attrill clearing
the ball out of defence for Nathan Pattison to run onto and get the
ball to Marcus who made no mistake with the finish, moments later a
very similar move had Marcus in on goal again, but the post came to
the rescue for Ashington. With time running out in the first period
the Leopards got a free kick on the half way line, up stepped Alan Grey
and with his trusty left foot blasted the ball goalwards through a crowd
of players and under the diving keeper the ball rolling over the line
before anyone else got touch (he says). The 2nd period started with
the Leopards dominating play 3 or 4 shots scraping the Ashington post
but with the whole team pressing forward to take advantage of the wind
Ashington got the equalizer against the run of play. 3rd period and
a change of team positions Oliver Baldwin coming out of goal to strengthen
midfield, but it wasn’t enough to stop Ashington dominating with
the wind behind them and scoring 2 more to take a 4-2 lead into the
final quarter. Both teams looking tired in the final period with no
real clear chances and the score stayed the same lets hope we can take

but some good saves from Alan kept the score 1-0 at the end of the first

nice play in the middle of the park.3rd period and Marcus now in goal
and Alan up front the whole team playing really well passing the ball
from defence to forward very nicely resulting in a corner from the Leopards
which Alan swing it in to the near post off a defender and into the

the non stop chasing and tackling from Nathan pattison keeping the Leopards

An excellent start from the Leopards the whole team pressing forward
from the off resulted in a first minute penalty being awarded, team
captain Alan Grey took the responsibility and coolly slotted it into
the bottom corner 1 nil, after this the game was very tight with the
Leopards defenders Lee Atrill and Thomas Patterson making some fine
tackles. The second period was just as tight the Leopards midfield of
Oliver Baldwin Alan Grey and Nathan Pattison battling hard for every
loose ball and Alan got his reward with a long range effort that deceived
the goal keeper for his and the teams 2nd to make it 2 nil at the end
of the second period. The Leopards allowed Blyth to pull one back in
the third period but never mind one period to go the game was ours.
The fourth period once again saw some tremendous tackling from both
sides, and then the controversial moment happened a Blyth supporter
ran onto the pitch to complain about a strong but fair tackle on one

and working as a team that had grace and style in there play, with Tyler
(the Cat) Walton back in goal, a defense of Evan Ward and Thomas Patterson
a mid-field of Nathan Patterson, Robert Mcmenzie and Alan grey and a
lone strike force of Marcus Joyce. The game was fairly even when the
ball broke to Marcus Joyce on the who dribbled the ball forward and
shot but the goalkeeper saved the shot and Marcus fell to the floor
with his head in his hands in disbelief. This signaled the start of
a push up the Field lead by the team captain Alan Grey who then struck
a sweet shot which landed in the back of the net and the first period
ended 1-0 to the Leopards.
The second period started with the Leopards pushing forward with some
determination from the defence with Lee Atrill and Evan Ward, the Leopards
pushed on with some great skill and went 2-0 up with a second goal from

into place with the with Jack Harley, Nathan Pattison doing the hard
work of passing and working to hold the ball up the second period ended
2-0 to the leopards.

Baldwin.
The fourth period started with Oliver Baldwin going in goal and Alan
grey resuming his position as an out field player the Leopards ran through
the opposition and Alan Grey Very Deservedly scored his first hatrick
for the Leopards. Well done Alan and lets hope for more like that.
This weeks man of the match was Oliver Baldwin for
not just the two goals he scored but the amount of hard work in the
centre of the pitch he does and his goal keeping skills.
The most improved player goes to Evan Ward for his constant work rate
in defence but also for the silky skills he showed with the ability
to run and dribble the ball through the opposition.
Final score North Shields Leopards won 5 goals to 0 well done by all
the team.
28/10/2007 - Bedlington Juniors Vs North Shields
Leopards
Kick off 11.00
The match started with the ball towing and furrowing from end to end
with near chances from both sides it seemed as if there was some force
at work keeping the ball from crossing the line and the first period
ended 0-0 with some great defending from Thomas Pattinson , Lee Atrill
and Evan Ward.
The second period started similar to the first but with unlucky chances
from our forwards Marcus Joyce, Jack Harley and Nathan Patterson and
some with shots raining in from our mid-field including Alan Grey and
Oliver Baldwin with the cat Tyler Walton doing the goalkeeping and some
excellent saves the second period ended 0-0.
The third period started with an excellent run from Oliver Baldwin which
ended in a shot which was brilliantly saved by the Bedlington goalkeeper
and with the resulting counter attack Bedlington Scored, the leopards
had attack after attack but they couldn’t break the force that
was stopping us from scoring, the third period ended 1-0 to Bedlington.
The forth period started well with the leopards pushing forward and
with Tyler Walton having a break from goalkeeping and playing in defense,
Tyler picked the ball up on the edge of his own teams box and dribbled
the ball with brilliant close control balance and ability through the
whole of the Bedlington team, only to have his shot saved. Bedlington
replied on the counter attack and the game finished with a 2-0 victory

A strong Start from the Leopards, with good passing amongst the midd-field
with Oliver Baldwin, Robert Mcmenzie and Alan Grey and with Nathan Pattison,
Jack Harley and Marcus Joyce up front we moved the ball well and looked
dangerous . With the game going from end to end the first period ended
goalless.
At the start of the second period the Leopards found themselves under
a large amount of pressure but with some excellent defensive skills
from Lee Atrill, Thomas Patterson and Evan Ward acting like a brick
wall and with the cat (Tyler Walton) leaping like a salmon to catch
and deflect shots,. The Leopards managed a counter attack when Oliver
Baldwin broke free and shot and was denied when Pontelands keeper made
the save of the season and managed to push the ball away, and the period
ended with the leopards 2 – 0 down.
The third period found the Leopards under pressure once again. But with
another counter attack Jack Harley found himself one on one with the

third period ended with the score 3-1 to Ponteland.

14/10/07 - North Shields Jun Leopards 2-8 CJ
Barca
Kick off 11.00am
The leopards passed the ball well amongst the team and with Alan Gray
and Robert Mcmenzie back in the squad the confidence was flowing strong
in the leopards and were unlucky to go one nil down at the end of the
first period.
At the start of the second period the leopards came out read to play
football with some neat passing from the Goalkeeper (Tyler, the cat,
Walton) onto the defense (Lee Atrill, Thomas Patterson and Evan Ward).
Through the Midd-field (Oliver Baldwin, Robert Mcmenzie, Alan Gray),
up to the strike force (Nathan Pattison, Jack Harley and Marcus Joyce).
As the shots rained in and the ball bounced around the box the ball
came out to Nathan Pattison who with a neat shot placed the ball in
the back of the net to pull the score level at 1 – 1. With more
of the same neat football and shooting CJ Barca were feeling the pressure
and the pressure eventually told with the ball bouncing around the box
and Marcus Joyce stuck out a foot and the ball was once again in the
back of the net and the leopards were 2 – 1 up at the end of the
second period.
CJ Barca then changed there team around and in the third period scored
2 goals, this was only kept to 2 goals by the cat like reactions of
Tyler Walton and defensive prowess of the rest of the team.
In the forth period weakened by tiredness CJ Barca scored 5 goals to
finish winners by 8 goals to 2.
Man of the match award goes to JACK HARLEY for some excellent
running off the ball and dribbling with the ball.
07/10/2007 - North Shields Leopards Vs Cobra
Juventus
Kick off 11.00am
The Leopards started well with Oliver Baldwin, Jack Harley and Nathan
Pattison sprinting up the field and taking the game to the opposition.
Cobra Juventus returned the ball with pressure of there own. Some good
running by Evan Ward on and off the ball and sturdy defending from Thomas
Patterson and Lee Atrill along with Goalkeeper Tyler (the cat)Walton,
meant at the end of the first period ended 0-0
With super sub Marcos Joyce coming on for Evan ward at the start of
the second period the game flowed from end to end and with missed chances
on both sides the period ended 0-0.
The Third period started once again with the play going from end to
end, but with two players short the Leopards began to feel the pace
and Cobra Juventus went ahead half way through the period and with some
superb defending and running from all the players, but the team could
not stop Cobra Juventus scoring at the end of the third period.
During the fourth period Marcus Joyce bravely decided to go in goal
and with Tyler Walton Joining the defense, the Leopards went on the
attack with a narrow miss from Oliver Baldwin’s corner and couple
of shots off the uprights and narrow misses from Jack Harley and Nathan
Pattison the score finished 4-0 to Cobra Juventus, but this was a performance
to be proud of and one where the team is getting better all the time.

excellent performance by everyone.

Newsham Juniors v. North Shields Leopards
The Leopards began the game impressively, applying continuous pressure
on Newsham. Newsham were equal to the task and a well-contested first
quarter ended goal-less with both goalies kept busy. The deadlock was
broken midway through the second quarter with a powerful free kick from
Alan Grey. The Leopards then extended their lead with another unstoppable
free kick from Alan.
The third period belonged to Newsham as they came out on the attack.
Four well-taken goals in quick succession gave Newsham the lead going
into the fourth quarter. The Leopards kept their heads up and still
had plenty of running in them. There were no goals in the last quarter
despite some good team play and attempts on goal from both sides.
Final Score, Newsham Juniors 4 North Shields Leopards 2
Man of the Match was Alan Grey. Well done Alan, a captain’s
performance, full of running, with two great goals.
Another strong performance from the Leopards, every single one of them!
Bouncing back from last week’s match against a very strong Newcastle
City Celtic side, the boys again competed well and worked for each other
with a great team spirit. The team’s efforts will reap the rewards
soon.
23/09/07 - Newcastle City Celtic 7-1 North Shields Leopards
We kicked off at 09:00 and started well with the Leopards pressing forward
and could have gone ahead, but for some stern defending from Newcastle
Celtic. As the game in the first period swayed from end to end, Newcastle
Celtic broke the deadlock just before the end of the first quarter with
a shot from outside the goalkeeper’s box which left the goal keeper
with no chance. The second period started with Newcastle Celtic applying
the pressure but with some brave defending and cat like saves from our
goalkeeper the opposition were kept at bay for a short period. Then
in a flurry of activity Newcastle Celtic scored 3 goals and we ended
the 2nd period 4 nil down.
The 3rd period was much the same as the 2nd, which ended with the Leopards
being 7 nil down.
But with a change of tactics in the forth period the Leopards came out
with renewed vigor and went all out and a brilliant strike got the only
goal of the 4th period.
Overall a performance to be proud of and we are looking forward to our
next game, BRING IT ON!
