HAT-TRICK OF SUCCESS FOR UNDER
14’s
“North Shields Under 14’s celebrated winning their third
trophy of the season following a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Wallsend
Community in the Colts Cup Final at the Blue Flames. Following their
success in the North Tyneside Tournament and also the Divisional Cup,
the Shields lads proved too strong for the resolute opponents. After
a nervy start, Shields took the lead after 19 minutes after a fine flowing
move involving Bailey, Kimber and Ravenhill resulted in skipper Louis
Storey heading home at the far post. Several near misses then ensured
the Wallsend lads were always in the hunt right up until Michael Elgie
finished expertly from the inside left position with 15 minutes remaining.
Shields then went close on several occasions and had a goal ruled out
for offside before the final whistle went and the celebrations started.”

NORTH SHIELDS 16 Wallsend United 0
A completely one sided affair ensured the Shieldsmen had a comfortable
passage into Round 2. A galliant visiting team never gave up the ghost,
but the difference in ability was evident throughout.
Michael Elgie helped himself to six goals as the hosts went goal crazy
at John Spence. Lewis Cardy also helped himself to a hat-trick and further
goals from Peter Ravenhill (2), Alex Noble (2), Lewis Errington, Louis
Storey and an unfortunate own goal topped off this cup tie.

Cramlington Juniors 2 NORTH SHIELDS 3
Shields showed fantastic aptitude and attitude with this comprehensive
victory over last seasons champions. A one-sided first half was illuminated
by an excellent 25 yard dipping shot from Phil Kimber which left the
home keeper grasping at thin air. Slack marking allowed Cramlington
back into the game from their first real attack of the half. The second
half began in similar vein as Shields tore into a shell shocked home
side and goals by the ever reliable Peter Ravenhill and Kimber's second,
meant the visitors were in total control. A late second from the hosts
meant an anxious last few minutes, but the reality was the visitors
deserved this fantastic victory.
02/09/07 - NABC DIVISION 1
NORTH SHIELDS 1 Wallsend BC 1
On a blustery September afternoon the spoils were shared as a depleted
home side battled back bravely from a goal down to salvage a draw. Due
to the loss of key players at such a late stage, Shields showed their
resiliance with a creditable point against capable opponents. Stand
in keeper Louis Storey was beaten after 20 minutes as the visitors took
the lead with a cracking 20 yard effort. To the home side's credit,
they battled back strongly and fully deserved their equaliser, coolly
finished by the ever improving Alex Noble. Late chances were missed
at both ends and the hosts were probably the more disappointed of the
two sides.
