05/09/10 - North Shields Wanderers 4 - 1 Tynemouth United

Wanderers started their first competitive game of the season in good form, pinning Tynemouth back in their own box for much of the ealy game. It was therefore a shock to the system when Tynemouth broke away to score with their first meaningful possession on 8 minutes.
North Shields got their composure back and resumed their attacks on the Tynemouth goal, but with the exception of shots from Ashton and Callum S the opposition goalkeeper was not troubled.
Wanderers got the goal that their play had deserved on 24 minutes. A through ball saw Callum Storey race into the box and finish coolly on his left foot.
At half-time the manager showed his tactical genius by bringing on Chris and Callum P up front and joking that they would never score. Within 12 minutes Shields were 3-1 up thanks to goals from ... Chris Curry and Callum Pattison. Chris struck first, confidently firing in off the crossbar. 2 minutes later Callum tucked away a close-in finish after a good cross from Elliot.
Wanderers were now firmly on top, with the defence confidently dealing with Tynemouth incursions into our half. This left the midfield to play some better football, and a good flowing move led to the 4th goal. Excellent interplay saw Elliot set Joseph away down the right wing, and Joseph crossed early into the path of the on-rushing Lewis Betts who beat the keeper comfortably.

A great start to the season lads. Keep this up and we can look forward to an enjoyable year. Chris Curry gets Man of the Match for breaking his duck with a cracking finish and bringing a tear to the manager's eye (for the right reason this time!)
