North
Shields Athletic U12’s – League Champions
John and Bob would like
to thank all the players and parents for all their support throughout
our first season in the NABC league. They have been outstanding all
season and have won the league with three games to spare. Already, they
have scored 135 goals in only 19 games and have a goal difference of
+110. They have also reached the final of the county cup beating teams
from higher leagues along the way, and play Wallsend BC on 18th May
at Bullocksteads. 10.45 ko.
All in all a tremendous
effort by all of the squad!!!!!!
6th May League: North Shields Athletic 4 v
Newcastle City Juniors 0
The lads continued their good form with another comprehensive win over
a good Newcastle City Juniors side. Nathan Milton McKay led the way
with an excellent first half hat trick to put us 3 ahead in the first
half. Newcastle City came out stronger in the second half, but the defence
played very well in keeping another clean sheet. Daniel Capewell added
to the scoreline after good work by Nick Jarvis Smith to run out 4-0
winners.
M.O.M - Nathan Milton McKay
Goals: Nathan Milton McKay 3 Daniel Capewell
4th May League: Berwick Juniors 2 v North Shields
Athletic 5
The lads capped an outstanding season by winning the league in a difficult
game at Berwick. Berwick were looking to gain promotion in second place
behind NS, and started well by opening the scoring after 15 minutes.
NS responded as they have done in the league all season and equalised
through Brendan Teague from a long throw in by Jack Best. The lads added
a second with a cool finish by Daniel Capewell after good work by Bobby
Lee Taylor, and added another before half time through Daniel Capewell.
Berwick pulled one back before Adam Gardner scored from close range,
and Daniel Capewell got his hat-trick with a penalty in the last minute.
It wasn’t the best performance of the season, but all of the team
showed great character once again to become champions.
Goals: Daniel Capewell 3, Adam Gardner, Brendan Teague
M.O.M - Daniel Capewell
26th April 2008 League: Kingston Park 0 v North
Shields Athletic 6
The lads took another step towards winning the league with a comfortable
victory. With four games to play, we only need one more point to clinch
the title. Bobby Lee Taylor opened the scoring, then we added two more
from Bobby Lee Taylor and Daniel Capewell before half time. Three more
were added in the second half by Daniel Capewell, Bobby Lee Taylor and
Nick Jarvis Smith to complete the scoring.

League: 19th April 2008
Ellington Juniors 2 v North Shields Athletic 5
NS continued their good run of results with a slightly below par display
still netting another three points. After a slightly lacklustre start,
we took the lead with a good finish by Daniel Capewell, who then quickly
added another. Two more goals before half time by Nick Jarvis Smith
saw us ease into a four goal lead by half time. An early penalty by
Daniel Capewell took the lead to five before some sloppy play saw Ellington
score two quick goals. We saw the match out without conceding any further
goals. This leaves us with a goal difference of +101, an excellent effort
all round.
Goals: Daniel Capewell 3 Nick Jarvis Smith 2

League: 13th April
North Shields Athletic 10 V Newbiggin Hall Jnrs 0
A one sided game saw NS score 4 goals in the first half, and then scored
six more without reply in the second half. This took the tally of goals
scored in the league to 119 in only sixteen games.

06/04/08 - NACYP Cup Semi Final:
North Shields Athletic 5 v Newcastle East End 3
A great result for North Shields which took them into the final of
the main cup competition! We started well in blizzard conditions and
took an early lead through Bobby Lee Taylor following some good work
by a number of the lads.Newcastle EE equalised midway through the first
half against the run of play, but this only served for the lads to redouble
their efforts and score twice more by half time through Booby Lee Taylor
(2). The second half was end to end and they pulled a goal back only
for Bobby Lee Taylor again and make it 4-2. Newcastle EE scrapped their
way back again and scored following a goalmouth scramble to make it
4-3. NS then sealed the game with a break from their corner and Bobby
Lee Taylor made it five goals to three. All in all, another great result
against a team from a higher league who have won all of their games
this season. It’s an excellent achievement from all the lads to
reach the county final!!!

30/03/08 - North Shields Athletic 10 - 1 Pinpoint
Cowgate
The lads took another step towards winning the league with a comprehensive
victory over Cowgate. They led by six at half time and scored another
four in the second half to register another win and take the amount
of goals scored in 15 league games to 109. Well done!!
Goals: Daniel Capewell 3 Bobby Lee Taylor 3 Joseph Bell, Nick Jarvis

League: 15th March
North Shields Athletic 6 v Seaton Burn Juniors 0
Another excellent all round performance by the lads resulted in identical
scoreline to the return game. Bobby Lee Taylor opened the scoring following
a good one two with Daniel Capewell, and added a further two to score
another hat trick. Daniel Capewell then chipped the goalie for an outstanding
finish to make it four at half time. We added a further two from Daniel
Capewell and Drew Bryson’s first of the season to take into six
again. The lads have been outstanding over the last five games and need
to continue this form into the run in.
M.O.M - Joseph Bell
Goals: Bobby Lee Taylor 3, Daniel Capewell 2 Drew Bryson.
League: 02-03-08 - Seaton Burn Juniors 0 v
North Shields Athletic 6
Another excellent performance against one of the top teams saw the
lads cruise to another win. In keeping with recent games, we again started
well creating a number of chances. The first came from Bobby Lee Taylor
following good work by Daniel Capewell, then Bobby added another with
a cracking effort. Daniel Capewell rounded the keeper adding the third
and Nathan Milton McKay scored a fourth before the interval. Up against
the wind in the second half, we continued to take the game to Seaton
Burn with Daniel Capewell adding two more to get his hat trick. The
lads kept it tight at the back to deservedly keep a clean sheet. WELL
DONE!!

24/02/08 - NAYCP Cup ¼ Final
Heaton Hawks 1 v North Shields Athletic 5
In another game against a team from a higher division, the lads excelled
winning easily by 5-1. We took the lead with a good effort by Daniel
Capewell and followed this with another hat trick by Bobby Lee Taylor
before half time. The defence marshalled by Jack Best were in control
for nearly all of the game and Nick Jarvis Smith scored a superb effort
to leave the score at 5. Another great effort taking us into the semi
final.

League 17/02/08 - Montagu BC 2 v North Shields
Athletic 7
NS faced the only team to beat them in the league this year, and took
revenge with an outstanding victory. Against anothet of their title
contenders, the lads turned in their best display of the season in the
first half scoring six without reply. Daniel Capewell opened the scoring
with a cool effort from the edge of the box, and this was followed by
a close range effort from Nick Jarvis Smith. Nathan Milton McKay and
Bobby Lee Taylor made it 4 before Daniel Capewell converted a penalty
to take it to 5. Bobby Lee Taylor took his tally to 51 for the season
with the sixth goal to cap a tremendous effort by all the lads in the
first half. Perhaps understandably the pace dropped in the second half
and we only added one more whilst conceding two sloppy goals to leave
the final scoreline 7- 2. An outstanding effort by all the squad with
a particular mention to Jack Best who was excellent throughout.
Goals: Bobby Lee Taylor 3, Daniel Capewell 2 Nathan Milton McKay Nick

10/02/08 - League
North Shields Athletic 7 v Berwick Rangers Juniors 2
NS deservedly won against one of their promotion rivals with an excellent
second half display. The lads took the lead with a good finish from
Nick Jarvis Smith, then had dodgy spell where we conceded two silly
goals. Before half time we regained the lead with good goals from Daniel
Capewell and Bobby Lee Taylor. In the second half NS took the game to
Berwick and pinned them back for the majority of the game. Nathan Milton
McKay scored to make it 4-2 and then added another following good work
by Daniel Tocker. Daniel Capewell scored from close range to make it
6-2 and then Nick Jarvis Smith finished off another good pass by Daniel
Tocker to make it 7-2.

Jan 27th 2008
North Shields Athletic 4 v Wideopen 0
In a game spoilt by the high winds, the lads recorded a comfortable
victory. Goals from Bobby Lee Taylor 2, Daniel Capewell and Nick Jarvis
Smith saw us move into second place in the table with 5 games in hand
of the leaders. A special mention to Alastair McIntosh who got back
to last seasons form with an excellent display.
Goals: Bobby Lee Taylor 2, Daniel Capewell Nick Jarvis Smith.
Jan 20th 2008 League
North Shields Athletic 4 v Ellington 1
We again conceded an early goal from nothing to set ourselves an uphill
task. This time however we equalised within minutes and continued to
press Ellington back into their own half. Further goals followed from
Bobby Lee Taylor and Nathan Milton McKay to end 4-1.
Goals: Bobby Lee Taylor 3 Nathan Milton McKay

Jan 13th 2008 Cubs Cup
North Shields Athletic 1-5 North Shields Juniors
The score doesn’t reflect the game. After gifting two goals in
the opening 3 minutes, the lads fought their way back into the game
scoring with an own goal. After half time, we pressed the Juniors back
into their own half and numerous chances to deservedly equalise. Unfortunately
we then conceded another daft goal and the heads went down a little
and the Juniors scored twice late on to give the score a lopsided look.
M.O.M - Jack Best
NACYP Cup 16th Dec 2007
North Shields Athletic 3 v Prudhoe Reds 1
North Shields produced an excellent display to knock out a team who
were top of Div 2 of the NABC.
The lads took the game to Prudhoe from the off, and kept going despite
going a goal down against the run of play. Following some concerted
pressure, NS equalised through Bobby Lee Taylor and continued to press
the visitors. In the second half, the lads stepped up the pressure and
deservedly took the lead through another goal from Bobby Lee Taylor.
With all of the defence turning in a much improved display, it gave
NS the chance to press their higher league visitors onto the back foot
through a one sided second half. Bobby Lee Taylor scored another from
a corner to notch his hat trick and seal a much deserved victory. All
of the lads showed up well today. WELL DONE!!!
Goals: Bobby Lee Taylor 3

NACYP Cup 02/12/07
Wallsend Juniors 4 v North Shields Athletic 1
Wallsend took the lead early on and followed this up with a second
just before half time. The lads then took the game to Wallsend and scored
with a good effort from Bobby Lee Taylor and went close with a couple
of other good efforts. Wallsend scored against the run of play with
5 minutes to go from a corner and added another breakaway goal late
on. The scoreline didn’t really reflect the performance, but it
was good effort from the lads with David Smith having an outstanding
game.
Goals: Bobby Lee Taylor

League 25/11/07
Wideopen Jnrs 1 v North Shields Athletic 5
The lads put in a first class performance in the first half scoring
five without reply, with goals from Nathan Milton McKay, Bobby Lee Taylor,
Daniel Capewell 2 and Dominic Bell. They took their foot off the pedal
in the second half but still had chances to add to the score. All in
all a good performance.

18/11/07 - NACYP CUP
North Shields Athletic 5-1 Wansbeck
In a much improved display from last week, NS advanced to the next
round of the cup. Nathan Milton McKay opened the scoring from a corner,
and Bobby Lee Taylor added the second with a good lob over the keeper
before half time. In the second half the lads added to their lead through
a well taken goal by Daniel Capewell. Wansbeck pulled one back with
a very good effort from outside the box before Dominic Bell smashed
his first goal in for North Shields with a great effort from the edge
of the box. Nathan Milton McKay added the final goal with a tremendous
effort to make it 5.All in all a very good display all round.

11/11/07 - North Shields Athletic 4 v Montagu
Wizards 6
NS dropped their first points in the league by throwing away a game
they should have won. They took the lead early on with a goal by Bobby
Lee Taylor, and then had two goals chalked off when they should not
have been. Montague hit back to stun the lads with four goals before
half time following some poor defending. In the second half NS came
out determined to make up for their mistakes and fought back to level
the game with goals from Bobby Lee Taylor 2 and Daniel Capewell levelling.
Unfortunately whilst looking to win the game, more mistakes let in Montague
twice to leave the scoreline 4-6. A game which should have been won
comfortably was lost due to mistakes all across the pitch.
Goals : Bobby Lee Taylor 3 Daniel Capewell
M.O.M - Nathan Milton McKay.
League: 4th November 2007
Pin Point Cowgate 0 v North Shields Athletic 7
NS recorded their sixth straight win against Cowgate notching seven
goals without reply. Bobby Lee Taylor scored twice and Daniel Capewell
once to leave the lads with a 3 goal advantage despite not being at
their best. In the second half, we played a lot better and scored another
4 though Daniel Capewell 2, Nathan Milton McKay and another from Bobby
Lee Taylor to run out comfortable winners. A special mention goes out
to Dominic Bell who has settled in well and had an excellent game in
the middle of the field.

28/10/07 - NE Div Cup - North Shields Athletic
10 v Wallsend Town 1.
NS eased through to the semi final with a comfortable win over a spirited
Wallsend side. Bobby Lee Taylor led the scoring with six, ably supported
by Daniel Capewell with a hat trick and Jack Best scored also to record
an easy victory.

21/10/07 - Cubs Cup-Wansbeck 3 - 3 North Shields
Athletic
North Shields won 4-2 on penalties.
In a exciting cup tie peppered with a number of bizarre decisions,
NS took the lead three times and were pegged back on each occasion.
Daniel Capewell scored in the first half running onto a good through
ball. In the second half Nick Jarvis Smith scored to put NS back in
front, but Wansbeck scored another equaliser. After Nathan Milton McKay
scored a good goal which was disallowed for some reason??, the game
was taken into extra time. Bobby Le Taylor scored in the second period
of extra time to put NS back in the lead. With time up Wansbeck were
then awarded a ridiculous free kick when Alastair McIntosh was penalised
for bouncing the ball twice????? They duly scored with last kick of
the game to take it to penalties. Alastair McIntosh saved the first
penalty and Wansbeck missed their second. NS scored their first four
to win through to the next round.
Goals: Daniel Capewell, Nick Jarvis Smith, Bobby Lee Taylor
M.O.M - Daniel Capewell
14/10/07 - North Shields Athletic 8 v FC Morpeth
1 – NAYCP Cup
NS finished the game by half time having rattled in 6 goals without
reply. Daniel Capewell opened the scoring, and this was added to by
Jack Best, Nick Jarvis Smith 2 and Bobby Lee Taylor. Daniel Capewell
added another to complete the scoring at half time with a six goal lead.
In the second half, Jack Best and Sam Harley with a good individual
effort scored another two in reply to a consolation goal from Morpeth.
A good first half was followed by a complacent second half, but the
lads achieved the aim of reaching the second round.

7th sept 2007 - Killingworth YPC 1 v North
Shields Athletic 10
Another comfortable win for the lads saw them notch up a fifth consecutive
victory in the league. The result was never in doubt after a first half
saw them score seven whilst conceding a fluke own goal. They took their
foot off the pedal slightly in the second half, but cruised to a 10-1
victory.

30th Sept - League: Newbiggin Hall Jnrs 2 v
North Shields Athletic 4
After last week, it was nice to get back to playing football. NS took
the lead through a great left foot effort from the edge of the box by
Daniel Capewell. The lads then came close on a number of occasions before
a good effort from outside the area saw Newbiggin equalise. Bobby Lee
Taylor scored from close range to restore the lead at half time. In
the second half Nathan Milton McKay blasted home inside the box to extend
the lead, before Newbiggin pulled another one back. Bobby Lee Taylor
notched with a good header from a cross by Joe Bell to restore the two
goal advantage, and it stayed at 4-2.

23rd Sept NACYP League Cup
North Shields Athletic 0 v Montagu Wizards 5
NS didn’t deserve to be on the end of a heavy defeat in the cup
against First division opposition. A very physical Montagu side outmuscled
the lads in a game which saw a number of nasty challenges on NS go unpunished
on numerous occasions.
This was a game in which NS were fortunate to get away without incurring
a number of injuries.

North Shields Athletic 15 v Cullercoats FC 1
NS continued their excellent start with another comprehensive victory.
In a one-sided game, the lads scored nine in the first half with one

It’s a good beginning to a new league and let’s hope it
continues! Congratulations to Luke on breaking his goal duck.

North Shields Athletic 16 v Killingworth YPC 3
NS again performed well in beating another team by a significant scoreline.
We were in front early doors and never looked back, registering 12 goals
at half time. The second half was obviously less frenetic having clearly
won the game and the lads added four more whilst a few lapses in concentration
saw Killingworth score three times.
All in all another good performance.

In the first game of a new season the lads turned in a superb display
netting fifteen times against Wallsend Community whilst only conceding
two long range efforts. The opening ten minutes saw NS net 4 times to
build a commanding lead which grew into a 10-1 advantage at half time.
In the second half they continued to press Wallsend back into their
own half and scored another 5 to take the score to 15 – 2 at the
final whistle. The goals which were all excellent finishes including
two cracking long range shots from Daniel Capewell and Jack Best. An
excellent effort by all the team.
