REPORTS
17-05-08 - North Shields Juniors 3 Ponteland
Utd Madrid 1
The final fixture of the season has arrived and the lads wanted to
make sure that they finished on a high with a good performance and victory.
The first half was dominated by the lads with fantastic play and chance
after chance created, three headers by Dan Crow from corners cleared
off the line, Matthew Mcleod the post and a long range effort from Ben
Thompson saved by the Ponteland keeper were just a few of the chances
but nothing seemed to be going in for them, and after all he pressure
it was Ponteland who opened the scoring, 1-0 down against the run of
play. From the restart the lads continued their dominance with chance
after chance but again nothing was going in for them and the first half
ended 1-0 to Ponteland.
The second half was again dominated by the lads and it wasn't long
before they got back on level terms with a superb ball from Alex Sursham
played in Jake Morley to score comfortabely, 1-1. from the restart they
continued to pile the pressure on the Ponteland defence and we went
ahead with a strike by dan Crow from outside the box, 2-1. From the
restart the lads were still creating chances for fun and went 3-1 ahead
with a strike from Matthew Mcleod, and it should of been 4-1 when a
strike from Nathan Robinson seemed to cross the line but was ruled out
by the referee so the game ended 3-1.
A fantastic dominating display from the lads and a superb victory to
the end the season.
Very Well Done !

A big thankyou to the manager Gavin Mcleod who has worked
extremely hard with the lads all season.
07-05-08 - Cup Semi Final - North Shields Juniors
0 Shanklea 2
After a superb victory in the quarter finals against Whitley Bay the
lads were confident that they could overcome Shanklea to reach the final.
It was a scappy start to the game with both sides losing possession
easily and only creating half chances. The lads couldn't seem to find
their feet in the game or settle and it was Shanklea who took full advantage
to net the first goal 1-0 down. From the restart the lads still weren't
able to settle and for some reason were all off their game and as a
result of this Shanklea netted again to put us 2-0 down. Again from
the restart the lads were off their game and could only create half
chances, no shots on target in the first half.
The second half was alot better although it couldn't of been much worse
than the first. The lads were creating chance after chance to try and
get back in the tie but it was only going to be an uphill battle and
they couldn't seem to find the target, everytime we got near the opposition
goal there seemed to be panic with the lads snapping at their chances
and you could tell it wasn't going to be their day. We did manage to
get the ball in the back of the net from a corner but it was ruled out
for hand ball and the game ended 2-0 to Shanklea.

26/04/08 - North Shields Juniors 1 Ponteland
Utd Milan 5
Match 8 in the league and there was high spirits amongst the lads after
reaching the semi finals of the cup last time out. Todays opponents
Ponteland Milan boast 5 academy players in their squad so the lads knew
they were in for a tough game and would have to be at their best.
The game kicked off and the lads were under immediate pressure from
Ponteland but they were proving hard to break down giving them no time
on the ball and forcing them into long range efforts on goal. Ponteland's
constant pressure then paid off with two goals in quick succession which
they celebrated as if it were the FA Cup Final, 2-0 down. From the restart
the lads started to get the better of Ponteland and won a penalty when
Sayers was brought down in the box, Sayers picked himself up to take
the kick and slotted the ball comfortabely to reduce the score to 2-1.
This didn't last long though and from the restart Ponteland edged further
ahead 3-1 down. The lads then continued to frustrate with fantastic
effort and commitment and the first half ended 3-1 to Ponteland.
The second half was much like the first with constant pressure from
Ponteland and the lads camped in their own half, but some fantastic
defending and superb saves from Walker in goal kept them out and against
all the odds managed to keep the score 3-1 for most of the half. The
lads managed to then catch Ponteland on the counter and create a couple
of chances of their own, coming close but we were caught at the back
and they scored another two goals in quick successsion to make it 5-1.
The lads didn't give up or drop their heads and the final whistle blew
5-1 to Ponteland.
The lads kept themselves in the game for long periods and showed fantastic
effort and commitment, never giving up. You should all be very proud
of yourselves.

12/4/08 - Cup QF North Shields Juniors 4 Whitley
Bay BC 1
The pitches at Killy were water logged so we managed to get the fixture
changed to be played at John Spence. Whitley Bay the opponents today
who we had a bad time against in the opening fixture of the season so
the lads expected a tough game.
The game kicked off and you could see that confidence was high amongst
the Juniors on the back of two victories in the league. Chances were
being created by both sides but cancelled out by some great defending.
Harvey and Crow were as ever solid at the back with Mcleod, Spencer
and Robinson battling in midfield and Sayers hold up play there was
very little Whitley could do to get past us. The game continued to be
tight for the rest of the half and the lads went in 0-0 at the break.
The second half kicked off and we won a corner almost immediately,
Sayers stepped up and curled a ball into the box which was met by Morley
who headed home for the first goal of the game 1-0 to the Juniors. From
the restart we continued to press and it wasn't long before we doubled
the lead through Mcleod who smashed the ball into the bottom corner
2-0. From the restart it was all one sided and Whitley didn't know what
had hit them, we won a free kick about 60 yards out, well it seemed
that far anyway. Spencer stepped up to take it and curled the ball straight
into the back of the net 3-0 and cruising. From the restart we seemed
to take our foot off the gas a little and Whitley won a free kick just
outside the box, Walker saved the initial srike but the ball was turned
in to reduce the score to 3-1. With not long left we won another corner
and again Sayers stepped up to take it, he curled the ball into the
box and this was met by a fantastic header from Crow 4-1. From the restart
Whitley had no time to get back into the game and it wasn't long before
the ref blew for full time, 4-1 to the Juniors.
A fantastic footballing display from the lads. You all should be very
proud of yourselves.

A great result last time out for the Juniors so confidence was high
amongst the lads for todays match. Todays opponents KYPC Tigers are
top of the league with 100% record so the lads knew they would have
to be at their best to get a result.
In the first half the Juniors had the wind on their side so it was
important to capitalise on this but it was always going to be difficult
against a top side. The lads were making it very difficult for the Tigers
with their closing down of the ball and giving them no time, they did
manage to get in behind us to have a few efforts on goal which were
saved by Callum Walker who seemed to be on top of his game, then the
lads hard work paid off with a long clearance up field which the Tigers
keeper pounced on by Ben Sayers who somehow managed to lob the ball
over the keeper into the back of the net, (same old Sayers always scoring)
1-0 to the Juniors. The rest of the half saw the Juniors continue to
frustrate the oppposition by giving them no time on the ball and managed
to keep the score in our favour at half time.
In the second half the lads knew that they would have to work even
harder with the wind against them, this was proved as the Tigers spent
most of it camped in our half trying to break us down, it was chance
after chance for the Tigers but the lads were working extremely hard
with a string of last ditch tackles and world class saves from Callum
kept them out. Then from a corner the Tigers managed to score but to
our delight the referee disallowed the goal because Ben Sayers was down
and recieving treatment. With not long left in the game they still couldn't
manage to get past us and the referee blew for full time, then a rapture
of cheers from the lads, I don't know if they were cheering just because
they had won the game or because they were promised bacon sarnies off
Danny Harvey's Dad if they won.
A fantastic hard working battling display from the lads and back to
back victories.
Very Well Done !

15/3/08 - North Shields Juniors 5 KYPC Olympiakos

This was our sixth match of the season, we didn't know too much about
todays opponents only that they had been promoted last season after
finishing third. The lads were in good spirits and wanted to put last
weeks defeat behind them and record their second win.
The match kicked off and for the opening few minutes it was a bit of
a scrappy game, then the lads managed to get their passing going and
started to put Olympiakas under pressure forcing a corner down the right,
Sayers whipped the ball in and it ended up going straight into the back
of the net for our first goal 1-0. From the restart we started to take
full control of the game and when Mcleod found space down the right
he played in a pin point ball through to Sayers who netted for the second
time 2-0. The lads then continued to put pressure on to add to the lead
when Spencer picked up the ball just past the half way he found space
then shot, the ball going through the keepers legs and into the back
of the net to make it 3-0 to the Juniors. From the restart Olympiakos
were trying their very best to get back in the game but our defence
were strong, the first half ended 3-0, a comfortable first half for
the lads.
In the second half it was more of the same from the lads, Knocking
the ball around and creating chances but the Olympiakos defence proved
harder to break down, we kept up the pressure though and when Morley
found space on the edge of the box he shot, the ball was going just
wide but Sayers managed to turn the ball for his hattrick and 4-0. We
continued to pile the pressure on and create chances and Mcleod made
it 5-0 when he battled his way into the box and finished. That's how
the game ended, our second win of the season.
A fantastic performance from the whole team. Well done lads.

After last weeks fantastic performance and first win of the season
spirits were up for this game. Todays opponents Coast Soccer and the
lads knew they had to be on their game if they were going to get anything
out of this one.
The game started and with the high winds it proved very difficult for
the lads to control the ball although we did manage to create a couple
of chances early on with no end product. It was Coast Soccer who then
dominated the first half, although you couldn't really fault the effort
of the lads but 3 goals in quick succession from Coast made it very
hard for the us to get anything out of the game and we went in 3-0 down
at the break.
In the second half the lads tried their best to get themselves back
in the game, but because we were piling players forward we kept getting
caught on the counter and Coast scored another two to make it 5-0. To
make matters worse for us our keeper Callum Walker got a nasty injury
to his leg and had to be subbed, which meant defender Daniel Crow went
in goal. From this point though the lads still didn't drop their heads
and were trying their very best to reduce the deficit, but unfortunately
again got caught on the counter and Coast made it 6-0. From the restart
there was very little time left and with the last kick of the game Sayers
scored and their hard work payed off with a consolation. 6-1 the final
score.
A very tough game in tough conditions but you can't fault the lads
for their effort.

1/3/08 - North Shields Juniors 3 Burnside Bisons

Our fourth match of the winter league and the Juniors still waiting
for their first points on the board, although after the last two games
we were unlucky not to be on 6 points. Burnside Bisons were the opponents
who we beat on pens to reach the quarter finals of the cup so the lads
were confident they could get their first win today.
The game kicked off and the lads took control of the game immediately
with fantastic passing and movement, we managed to keep the ball for
long periods and as in the two previous games we created a lot of chances
with Spencer and Morley coming close, then a superb piece of play saw
Sayers play in Mcleod who converted to put the Juniors 1-0 up. From
the restart the lads continued to dominate the game, our defence having
very little to do, but as in the previous two matches we couldn't add
to the lead before half time and we went in 1-0 up for the third game
running at the break.
In the second half the lads continued to dominate, and all their hard
work paid off as Sayers made it 2-0 with another fantastic passage of
play. From then on you knew there was omly going to be one winner and
the Juniors were about to record their first win, and when Spencer converted
to make it 3-0 there was no way back for the Bisons and it was a comfortable
win for the lads 3-0.
Another fantastic performance from the lads ended this time with 3
goals, 3 points and a clean sheet.

The lads were really up for this game after last weeks performance,
although they lost to a last gasp penalty they did deserve something
and they were confident that they could put that right today.
The match kicked off and as in the Blyth game last week all the early
play was coming from us, we were again creating chance after chance
with Spencer and Mcleod both coming close to opening the score, and
it didn't take long before we did with a great passage of play ended
with a superb finish from Ben Sayers 1-0 to the Juniors. From the restart
we continued to dominate the game but we couldn't add to the lead and
we went in 1-0 up at the break.
In the second half it was more of the same with us piling the pressure
on and creating more chances and we then won a penalty for handball.
Robinson stepped up to take it and smashed the ball home for his first
goal for the Juniors ( a long time coming Nathan ) 2-0. From the restart
the lads for some reason seemed to switch off and in a mad 5 minutes
we amazingly conceded 3 goals to go behind in the game 2-3. After this
their was very little time left for us to get back in the game and although
we came close a couple of times it was too little too late and the game
ended 3-2 to the Bears.
Another game dominated by the Juniors only to lose it at the end.

After a disappointing start to the season against Whitley Bay last
week, we were hoping for a better performance in this match with tough
opposition in Blyth Spartans.
The game kicked off and the lads didn't disappoint with all the early
play coming from us,we were creating chances for fun with Mcleod, Morley
and Sayers all coming close to scoring, and when Blyth managed to get
the ball off us and go on an attack of their own they were shut out
by some strong defending from Crow and Harvey, and safe hands from Walker.
The lads were then rewarded for their fantastic work rate and effort
with great build up play and a goal from Ben Sayers 1-0. From the restart
we continued to create chances and again came close to scoring with
superb passing and movement throughout the whole team, but we couldn't
manage to extend the lead and the first half ended at 1-0. After the
way we played and the chances created in that first half we could have
been 5 or 6 up.
In the second half Blyth came back into the game and we seemed to take
our feet off the pedal, it was their turn to create chances although
our defence stood firm you could sence an equaliser was coming as they
were getting closer and closer, and that it exactly what happaned 1-1.
From the restart the game was more even with both sides creating, it
was end to end and either team could've took the lead. It was looking
like the game was going to end in a draw with very little time left,
but it was just our luck when the ref gave a penalty for handball against
us, Blyth converted to make it 1-2 and that's how the game ended.
A fantastic performance throughout the whole team and we certainly
did not deserve to lose.

BC 6
At last our first match in the Winter League had arrived, after some
awful weather in January had left the pitches at Killingworth under
6ins of water in some places.
The match kicked off and although the lads have been training together
every week leading up to this opener you could tell that they hadn't
played a competetive match for quite some time. We couldn't get the
ball off Whitley as they created chance after chance and to our disappointment
found ourselves 3-0 down with only 10 minutes played.
At this point the lads finally started to find their feet and with our
first real attack we forced a corner. Mcleod whipped the ball in and
Crow netted to reduce the score 3-1.
From the restart we won the ball back and continued to get ourselves
back in the game and won a free kick, Spencer stepped up to take it
and curled the ball straight into the top corner leaving the Whitley
keeper with no chance, 3-2 and back in the game. The match then turned
again and as in the first 10 minutes we couldn't get the ball off Whitley,
we were not closing them down quick enough and the marking was awful
throughout the whole team and Whitley netted another 3 goals to make
it 6-2 at half time.
I don't know what Gavin said to the lads at half time but we were a
different team in the second half, the passing was much better as was
the marking. The lads were creating chances coming close on a number
of occasions and when Whitley attacked we defended much better. Although
we couldn't find the target we managed to keep Whitley out and it was
a much better performance in the second half and the game ended 6-2.
A very disappointing first half but it was much better in the second.

We knew that today’s match wasn’t going to be easy against
a team who are in second place challenging Ponteland, to make matters
worse the weather was cold, wet and windy. Starting the match today
was Callum Walker in goal, Andrew Thompson and our captain for today
Daniel Crow at the back, in midfield Matthew Mcleod, Jake Morley and
Nathan Robinson with Rory Spencer up top. Subs were Ben Sayers, Daniel
Harvey and Ben Thompson.
The match didn’t start well for us with Coast Soccer forcing
a corner and scoring with a header 1-0, it was then 2-0 almost straight
away again from a corner. We couldn’t seem to cope with the pressure
and it was 3-0 soon after with a long ball into our box which was converted
in. From the restart we finally started to play and we forced a corner
of our own which was turned in by Rory Spencer to make it 3-1. From
the restart Coast Soccer went straight on the attack to make it 4-1
and you could tell it just wasn’t going to be our day. From the
restart though we pressed them back to force another corner which Jake
Morley smashed home to reduce the score to 4-2. Again from the restart
Coast Soccer went and scored another one to make it 5-2 ant that’s
how it was at half time.
In the second half we looked a lot more solid at the back and were
also pushing forward more and creating chances coming very close on
a number of occasions and just didn’t seem to get the luck we
deserved, to make matters worse Coast Soccer managed to score another
three goals on the counter attack to extend their score to 8-2 and that’s
how the game ended. I think that after our second half performance we
could of got a little more out of the game and 8-2 was slightly flattering
towards Coast Soccer although they did deserve to win we were better
than the score line suggests.
UNLUCKY LADS !
M.O.M. RORY SPENCER
It’s been a promising first half of the season for the lads and
we will look foward to it starting up again on December 1st.
3-11-07 - North Shields Juniors 2 Burnside
Utd Bears 3
After a fantastic cup tie last week spirits were up. Burnside turned
up with just six players so league rules state that we must start the
game with six also. Starting the game we had our captain for today Callum
Walker in goal Daniel Crow and Andrew Thompson at the back Jake Morley
and Mathew Mcleod in midfield and Nathan Robinson up top. Subs were
Daniel Harvey, Rory Spencer, Ben Thompson and Ben Sayers.
The game started with us forcing the early pressure and Burnside were
not able to get out of their half but it was always going to be difficult
to commit players forward with just six players. We managed to force
a couple of corners and when Ben Sayers whipped a ball into the box
Daniel Crow was unmarked to smash the ball home 1-0. The subs were being
rotated all the time which made it very difficult for the players to
settle and with Burnside having just six and no subs i believe they
had a slight advantage over us because they could all settle in their
positions and this told when they got a goal back just before the break
to level the score at half time 1-1.
The second half began and it was a very even game with both teams creating
chances and defending well. With both teams playing counter attacking
football you could sence there would be more goals and this was the
case but it fell to Burnside who took the lead. From the restart the
lads didn’t drop their heads and when Matty Mcleod picked up the
ball on the right he skipped past a couple of defenders and scored to
level the match, this wasn’t to last long though with Burnside
scoring their third to take the lead soon after. We tried our best to
get back in the game and came very close but it ended 3-2 to Burnside.
Unlucky lads !
M.O.M. DANIEL CROW
Next up our last game of this half of the season against Coast Soccer.
27/10/07 - Cup Match- North Shields Juniors
0 Burnside Utd Bisons 0
(aet 0-0 North Shields win 3-0 on penalty’s)
Our first cup match of the season had arrived, we didn’t know
much about the opposition only that they are top of their respective
league.Starting the game today we had Callum Walker in goal, Daniel
Crow and Andrew Thompson at the back, Jake Morley and Mathew Mcleod
in midfield, with Ben Sayers and our captain for today Rory Spencer up
top. Starting on the Bench was Daniel Harvey and Nathan Robinson.
In a typical cup match style the game started with a bang, Burnside
hitting the post with their first attack, then it was our turn forcing
a couple of corners and coming very close with a headed effort from
Rory Spencer just going over the bar. We were taking the game to Burnside
at this point and they couldn’t get out of their own half, then
we won a free kick which Mathew Mcleod stepped up to take, struck very
well only to be cleared off the line. We continued to pile the pressure
on coming very close and unlucky to not be ahead at the break.
The second half began much the same as the first with us in control
passing the ball around well and creating chances, then Burnside came
back into it and the game became more end to end with both teams coming
very close to that illusive winner and when i say close both teams hitting
the bar and post. With the game coming towards the end you could tell
no one wanted extra time with both teams creating chances but the game
ended 0-0 and so it was extra time.
The first half of extra time was much like the second half of the game
obviously some tired legs out there but still chances from both sides
but again no score. In the second half it was again chance after chance
from both sides but no one could break the deadlock and it was still
0-0 at the end of extra time and so it came down to a dreaded penalty
shootout.
First up to take a penalty was Rory Spencer who slotted the ball into
the bottom corner 1-0 then Burnside stepped up with Callum Walker saving
the shot. Next up for us was Jake Morley who again slotted home 2-0,
Callum Walker then saved again from Burnsides second spot kick. Next
up for us was Daniel Harvey who again slotted home 3-0 then Burnside
knew they had to score their next penalty and when they stepped up and
shot wide it was all over and we won the game 3-0 on penalty’s.
WELL DONE LADS !

today was Callum Walker in goal, Daniel Crow and Andrew Thompson at

and up top Ben Sayers and Nathan Robinson.Starting on the bench today,
Jake Morley, Ben Thompson and Daniel Harvey.
The first half began brightly with us taking the game to Blyth, we
were closing them down very well, the passing was crisp and we were
creating a number of chances, coming very close to taking a lead then
with Blyth’s first real attack of the game they found the top
corner with a terrific strike 1-0 down against the run of play. From
the restart we didn’t drop our heads and came straight back at
them and the pressure told when Jake Morley forced his way through their
defence to slot home 1-1 back on level terms. From the restart we were
really putting the pressure on and came very close to taking the lead
before half time, but it wasn’t to be 1-1 at the break.
The second half kicked off and we were creating chances again with
some great passing and build up play throughout the whole team but we
couldn’t seem to finish it off, then came a spell of real pressure
from Blyth where they hit both the post and the bar in the space of
a few minutes as well as shots going just wide but we stood firm and
kept them out with some great closing down and tackling. After this spell
of pressure from Blyth the game was more end to end for the last couple
of minutes and either team could of nicked it but the game ended at
1-1. After our play in the first half and Blyth’s in the second
it was certainly a game of two halves and a fair result in the end.
Well Done Lads !

After a great performance against top of the league Ponteland last week
the lads were well up for this game against bottom of the league AFC
Killingworth. We started the game with our captain for today Callum
Walker in goal, Daniel Crow and Andrew Thompson at the back, Rory Spencer
and Jake Morley in midfield and Ben Sayers and Nathan Robinson up front.
Starting on the bench was Matthew Mcleod and Daniel Harvey.
The first half started with us on the attack and it wasn’t long
before we forced a corner and Ben Sayers netted straight from it. 1-0
up, we continued to pile the pressure on and with some great passing
we got our second from Jake Morley 2-0. From the restart we won the
ball back and Rory Spencer picked up the ball and took it past a couple
of players to net our third, 3-0. From the restart the game became a
bit scrappy for a period but we soon got back into our stride with another
wonderful passage of play and a strike from Rory Spencer, 4-0 up. The
subs were being rotated all the time and when Matthew Mcleod came off
the bench it didn’t take long for him to get into the action and
net our fifth goal, 5-0 up at half time and cruising. A fantastic first
half performance.
The second half began much like the first with us looking to extend
the lead and we did exactly that when Ben Sayers netted his second of
the game to make it 6-0. From the restart we continued to attack but
were then caught on the counter and AFC Killingworth netted to reduce
the score to 6-1. After the restart we were passing the ball around
well and creating chances but couldn’t seem to extend the lead
with Daniel Harvey and Nathan Robinson coming close, Killingworth were
also shut out by some great defending from Andrew Thompson and Daniel
Crow and safe hands from Callum Walker so the game ended 6-1, our biggest
result of the season so far.
WELL DONE LADS ! FANTASTIC RESULT

Our toughest match of the season had arrived and the lads were really
up for it. Starting the game we had Callum Walker in goal, Daniel Crow
playing sweeper with Andrew Thompson and Daniel Harvey just in front,
in midfield we had Rory Spencer and our captain for today Matthew Mcleod
with Ben Sayers up front. Starting on the bench was Ben Thompson, Jake
Morley and Nathan Robinson.
The first half started with Ponteland coming straight at us looking
for an early goal, you could see the difference in quality immediately,
but we were making it very difficult for them with a strong unit getting
behind the ball, closing them down and gettting some good tackles in.
They were coming closer and closer to scoring but we kept them out,
twice Daniel Harvey cleared shots off the line, we were showing real
fight and determination to keep them out with Callum making some great
saves, but the pressure then told and Ponteland scored, 1-0 down the
lads didn’t drop their heads and kept their grit and determination
to make it difficult for them, but when you’re playing a full
team of academy players it was always going to be hard work and Ponteland
got their second. 2-0 down at half time. With all the pressure they gave
us the lads can be very proud of themselves to keep the score at just
2-0.
The second half started with us on an early attack forcing a throw
in just next to the corner flag and with Rory’s long throw into
the box we came very close to scoring. Ponteland put the pressure back
on us but as in the first half we were making life difficult for them, with
some great defending from the lads at the back, but again the pressure
told and Ponteland got their third 3-0 down. From the restart we came
straight back at them with some great passing, Nathan picked the ball
up on the left and forced his way passed their defender into the box
only to be pushed off the ball, looked like a penalty but nothing was
given. Ponteland then showed their quality when their number 8 picked
the ball up in his half and took it all the way into the box to slot
the ball in for their 4th. 4-0 down and thats how the game ended.
Well done lads to lose just 4-0 to a team full of academy players who
have been winning games with ease this season then you can be very proud
of yourselves.

We were back to full strength for today’s game, so starting we
had Callum Walker back in goal, Daniel Crow playing sweeper with Ben
Thompson and our Captain for today Andrew Thompson just in front, in
midfield we had Jake Morley and Mani Haddon, up front was Ben Sayers,
starting on the bench were Matty Mcleod, Daniel Harvey and Nathan Robinson.
The game started with us on the back foot Northburn piling on the pressure
and it wasn’t long before they scored 1-0 down. From the restart
we couldn’t seem to get into the game and they kept the pressure
on us, they then hit a long range hopeful effort on goal and it was
fumbled into the goal 2-0 down before we new it. This time from the
restart we finally started to play and with good passing from back to
front we were controlling the game then when the Northburn keeper got
caught out of position Haddon rolled a ball to the feet of Sayers who
chipped a lovely shot over their defenders into an empty net 2-1 back
in the game. This wasn’t to last long though because from the
restart Northburn took a hopeful shot on goal which Callum got a hand
to only for the ball to come off the post and roll into the net, so
unlucky 3-1 down and that’s how the first half ended.
The second half started and it was our turn to pile the pressure on
creating chance after chance and when Robinson was brought down just
outside the penalty area we won a free kick, Mcleod stepped up to take
it curling the ball over the wall into the top corner, lovely strike
3-2 and back in the game again. We kept the pressure on trying to get
the equaliser but were then caught on the counter attack and Northburn
made it 4-2. We kept our heads up and from the restart kept the pressure
on and when Mcleod crossed a ball into the box Haddon found himself
unmarked to stab the ball home 4-3 and back in the game for a third
time. We kept the pressure on and came very close to getting that equaliser
but we ran out of time and the game ended 4-3 to Northburn.
A great game of football which could have gone either way.

We were without a couple of players for this game with both Callum
Walker
and Ben Thompson both missing. Daniel Crow took the role in goal. We
had
Manni Haddon sitting deep with Rory Spencer and Jake Morley just in
front,
Matty Mcleod took his usual position in the centre of midfield and we
had
Nathan Robinson and our captain today Ben Sayers up front.Subsitutes
were
Andrew Thompson and Daniel Harvey. The game started with us dominating
the
play and creating chance after chance but just couldn,t seem to score,we
were then caught on the counter attack and Whitley scored. 1-0 down
at
half time. The second half started and we seemed to have no luck with
injury after injury, we were chasing the game and still creating chances
but it just wasn't our day and when Whitley scored their second the
game
was all over.
The lads played very well and on another day we would of won.
Unlucky lads !

The second game of the season and the weather was awful but that didn't
dampen the lads after a good start to the campaign. We controlled the
first half and we were 1 up at half time with a goal from Ben Sayers. We
continued to control the game in the second half and won a penalty.
Daniel
Crow stepped up to take it and scored to make it 2-0 for our first win

The first match of the season and the whole team was up for it after
a
good pre season. The first half was quite even but we found ourselves
2
down at half time. The lads didn't drop their heads and came out in the
second half fighting. It didn't take long to get back in the game with
a
strike from Rory Spencer and then when Ben Sayers equalised we looked
as
though we were going to win and came very close.
